Jo Jo the Galah (Eolophus roseicapilla) was found as an escaped pet. He was very young and was obviously handreared. Unfortunately the owners could not be located.
He was initially treated as a potential rehabilitation prospect but it quickly became obvious that he could not be released, so he is now a
permanent member of the family and is cared for by my son Steven.
Another escaped Pet. `Major` was found in the inner suburbs of Sydney. Again the owners could not be located. Major Mitchells
(Cacatua leadbeateri) are not indemic to the Sydney region and come from outback NSW and Central Australia. He is extremely tame and
talks a little, so he is also a permanent family member. Shortly after Major came to us, a female Major Mitchel was surrender to the society by
a member of the public with a request that the bird be placed in a good home. The bird was then passed to me by another member of the society to
be placed in permanent care.
This Ecelectus Parrot (Eclectus roratus) is an escaped pet. This bird is of the sub-species (solomonensis) which is from the Solomon
Islands and is the most common species found in Australian aviculture. We are still trying to identify the owners.
